~Autobiography~
Hello there! My name is Alex Coker. I was born in Austin Texas, 1994 AD. In 2007 the Lord brought me into His fold to be a child of God through faith in Jesus Christ. Since then, the Lord has guided me into youth ministries for nearly the past two decades. Allowing me to be a youth leader at church as a teen, a camp counselor as a young adult, and as a teacher in the scholastic environment as an adult. I’ve taught a variety of subjects, and have undergone Classical Education training through an Apprenticeship program run by the Circe Institute. This is where I’ve been trained in teaching Lost Tools of Writing, and have been teaching it for a few years now. Personally, I enjoy the outdoors and camping, sports, board games, reading, and writing. All of those are simply impossible to enjoy without friends and family. God has surely blessed me with amazing opportunities to serve and worship Him through all these moments.
~Teaching Philosophy~
Through teaching experience and training, the Classical Model is the philosophy that I've come to rest on and hold to. My aim is to cultivate within each student’s heart the desire to know, honor, and obey Christ more by looking at what is true, good, and beautiful - revealed through the Holy Scriptures, creation, and dialogue. I recognize that each student varies in ability and pacing, this is where it is my responsibility to encourage each one according to where they currently are.
~Statement of Faith~
I believe in God the Father, Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit. That to put one’s faith in Jesus Christ - through crucifixion on the cross to take away our sins, being buried for three days, and being resurrected into new life - grants us salvation and reconciliation to God. Now as a follower of Christ, it is my joyful duty to honor and obey the teachings of Jesus by living my life for him.
