In this session, we will discuss engaging texts foundational to classical education with two main objectives in mind: 1) deepening our understanding of classical education and 2) learning how this new understanding pertains to your homeschool today.

Course Description

"Professional Development" for homeschooling parents

Do you feel uncertain of the 'how' and 'why' of classical education? You are not alone. Homeschooling can be challenging. It can be even more so when you do not feel properly equipped. While I was homeschooling my children, one thing proved invaluable in helping me strengthen my understanding of how to educate classically - reading books about educating classically and discussing them with like-minded people. That is what I now offer to you.

During the year, we will read and discuss our way through one book, divided into manageable chunks, which will encourage and strengthen you for this homeschool journey. Together, we will read The Liberal Arts Tradition: A Philosophy of Christian Classical Education by Kevin Clark & Ravi Scott Jain. Then, we will gather online two or three times a month to discuss the reading. The goal is to mine the material for riches and consider ways to enrich your homeschool with what we discuss. Lofty ideals meet practical application.
