About the course

Photography for Art and Commerce 4 is the fourth course of a four-semester sequence. Students will prepare a set of goals, activities, and evaluation criteria for specific areas of photography they will pursue.

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Photography for Art and Commerce 3

Course Objectives

Student will choose from this list or create their own in consultation with Mr. Eads:

  1. Learn a specialization in greater depth. For example, architecture, portraiture, fashion, scientific, forensic, etc. This includes improving your skills to the point you are recognized as proficient in that specialization.
  2. Research the history of photography in broad categories such as the philosophy of documentary photography, contemporary trends, a specific influential photographer, etc.
  3. Study and practice a specific aspect of photograph that could be applied over a wide range of specializations; for example, lighting, posing (adults, groups, pets, etc.), closeup photography, etc.

Students will take field notes during picture making assignments and reflect on their experiences. Students will continue to learn about past and present photographers who have shaped the field. There are seven scheduled one-hour meetings, one every other week till the end of the semester. Mr. Eads will be available for consults up to 60 minutes between scheduled meetings as needed.

Andrew C. Eads Andrew is a career industrial photographer and holds a BA from Brooks Institute. He holds a certification as a Career and Technology Education teacher and established the photo program for the Pasco School District in 2002.
