Outdoors and the Environment

Course Description

This class will explore some of the basics of ecology, read and discuss the work of some of the most influential nature writers, and challenge students to get outdoors to practice new skills and to have some adventures. This course will encourage students to get outdoors and ponder the works of the Creator (Psalm 111:2). As students are introduced to ecological principles they will be encouraged to experience the concepts presented through outdoor adventures that they share with their class colleagues.

Course Objectives:

  1. Introduce students to ecological principles
  2. Discuss the impact of select works of influential nature writers
  3. Gain confidence in outdoor skills and activities
  4. Experience God’s creation and ponder His great works
