BI 3329 Romans is a dual credit course using Romans, and questions of interpretation, evaluation, and application, to assist students in greater understanding of this portion of the Bible. Eligible for dual enrollment at Faulkner.

Course Description

This course is an examination of the book of Romans in the New Testament. We will be exploring it from the perspective that the book is inspired of God and applicable to the modern beliefs and practices of Christians. We will also be investigating this book from the perspective of what is traditionally called the “historical-critical method” which examines the texts in their historical settings. We will accomplish this through video lectures that set up the historical context as well as the content of the book and through cooperative discussions directed toward determining the meaning of the text to its various audiences. The course will work under these collaborative methodologies so that all learners in this process come to a deeper understanding and appreciation of the book of Romans.

Course Objectives:

  • Demonstrate competence in using web-based learning tools, including (but not limited to) Google Apps for Education (e.g., Drive and Mail) and basic online academic research tools
  • Describe the content
  • Discuss key themes in Romans
  • Appreciate the meaning of Romans for the life of Christians and Christianity
  • Demonstrate critical reading, thinking, and writing skills
