Course Description

“If men had postponed the search for knowledge and beauty until they were secure, the search would never have begun.” C.S. Lewis, Weight of Glory

Join me while we search for beauty in the present by exploring and practicing art from the 1800s to the present day. This course will seek to lay a foundation to understand the importance of art history in cultures and give students a bigger and fuller understanding of the historical relevance of art.

This course is designed to be a hands-on art course in which the students will practice art skills based on what we are learning as assigned per the instructor. Art supplies will be necessary for completing assignments.

There is no text for the course, but the instructor may provide short weekly supplemental readings to facilitate learning and understanding. The weekly focus at home will be the hands-on art.
