About the course
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of thinking well. This world was designed and created according to the Divine Logos, and his character informs how the world and its objects, concepts, and ideas are related to one another. In this course, students will learn how to think with the grain of the created order in submission to Christ and his Kingdom.
Students will read assigned lessons, watch pre-recorded lectures, and complete exercises on their own time, then will meet with the instructor once per week for discussion, clarification, and encouragement.
Course Objectives:
- Grow in wisdom, virtue, and critical thinking skills
- Understand fundamentals of language and thought, including definition, categorization, comparison, contextualization, etc.
- Acquire the skills to assess, construct, and deconstruct formal arguments
- Acquire the skills of translating arguments back and forth between standard categorical language and ordinary language
- Identify and categorize many common logical fallacies used in everyday conversations

- Introductory Logic: The Fundamentals of Thinking Well, as well as the Exam Packet and the DVD set (Roman Roads offers a 25% discount on this text for Kepler students.)
- Additional materials and resources will be provided by the instructor during the year.

Jeff lives in Huntsville, AL with his wife Amanda and their three children. He earned a B.A. in Philosophy and a M.A.R. in Theology. He enjoys woodworking, reading, gardening, and taking care of their chickens and rabbits.
