About the course
Photography for Art and Commerce 1 is the foundation course in a 2-year Photography program. The four one-semester courses teach the practice, history, technology, business, art and career opportunities available in photography.
Course Objectives:
- Students will learn the basics of photography with opportunities to make expressive photographs.
- We will learn the technology of photography from first principles of exposure, optics and light.
- We will explore career options and how photography is a strong adjunct to other careers such as forensics, architecture, science, graphic design, and engineering.
- Students will take pictures with digital cameras, select their best pictures, and learn critique.
- Students will take notes during picture making assignments and write descriptions of their experiences.
- Students will learn about past and present photographers who have shaped the field.
The class will follow the format of lecture, demonstrations, picture-taking assignments, digital image editing, research, presentations and constructive critique.

Andrew C. Eads
Andrew is a career industrial photographer and holds a BA from Brooks Institute. He holds a certification as a Career and Technology Education teacher and established the photo program for the Pasco School District in 2002.
