About the course
This course will offer an in-depth reading of Shakespeare’s tragedy, King Lear. The play will offer a setting for discussion surrounding Shakespeare himself, the art of rhetorical poetics, monarchical politics, and family ethics.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, learners will:
- have a thorough understanding of the tragedy of King Lear
- identify the role of rhetoric within poetry
- be able to apply the microcosm of the play to the macrocosms of familial life and modern-day politics

Mary Patricia Rogers
Mary Pat lives with her husband and two children in New Mexico. She has a Masters in English from the University of Dallas and a Bachelor's in English and Writing from McMurry University. She enjoys cooking, watercolor painting, and fern spotting.
