Introductory Logic with Jeff Robertson

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of thinking well. This world was designed and created according to the Divine Logos, and his character informs how the world and its objects, concepts, and ideas are related to one another. In this course, students will learn how to think with the grain of the created order in submission to Christ and his Kingdom.

Students will read assigned lessons, watch pre-recorded lectures, and complete exercises on their own time, then will meet with the instructor once per week for discussion, clarification, and encouragement.

Course Objectives:

1. Grow in wisdom, virtue, and critical thinking skills
2. Understand fundamentals of language and thought, including definition, categorization, comparison, contextualization, etc.
3. Acquire the skills to assess, construct, and deconstruct formal arguments
4. Acquire the skills of translating arguments back and forth between standard categorical language and ordinary language
5. Identify and categorize many common logical fallacies used in everyday conversations
