About the course
This course explores the history and aesthetics of music’s use in theatre and film. We will explore music’s power in setting mood, in storytelling, and in providing artistic coherence as we examine various movies and theatrical works. Suitable for students with or without formal musical training.
Course Objectives:
The successful student in this course will learn to identify, appreciate, and articulate the role of the music composed and compiled for 12 distinct movies and theatrical productions. Suggested course for potential music composers, writers, screenwriters, producers, and dramatists, as well as general soundtrack fans.

- All required written material will be available online without charge.
- Access to streaming sites such as Netflix, Disney, Hulu, YouTube, and other services may be required
About the teacher
Dr. Casey Christopher
Dr. Christopher has a B.A. of Music from University of Oregon in Eugene, and a Master of Music degree and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree both from Arizona State University in Tempe. He teaches music in Nampa, Idaho.
