Michelle Hobbs

about the teacher

Michelle is from the Greater Houston Area in East Texas where she has been teaching English Language Arts and Reading and coaching competitive swimming for the public school system. In 2005, she took a sabbatical and went to Gothenburg, Sweden where she was the Head of the English Department and taught English at the Internationella Engelska Skolan. She recently started teaching English online to children in other countries and fell in love with the online teaching platform. Michelle has a B.A. in English with a minor in Kinesiology from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. She also coaches a club swimming team and volunteers for the American Red Cross teaching Lifeguard Certification courses.

Teaching Philosophy

Michelle is passionate about a classical liberal arts education because by studying the masters, students can discover and develop their unique talents and realize personal success, while at the same time develop meaningful skills that translate into their future professional and private lives. Particularly, she is passionate about the subject of English Language Arts and Reading because learning proper communication through writing, reading, analytical thinking, and verbal expression allow students to achieve so much more, and as a result, achieve a “well-lived” life. …
