about the teacher

I live in Pretoria, South Africa, I have taught children in Bible school at church, and adults at my previous employer, where I was involved in technical training. I am currently an online teacher at Berlitz Europe and I teach Business English to professional people from all over Europe. I love teaching, helping students reach their full potential. I am a lifelong student, and believe that we should never stop learning. I love reading, and studying God’s word in the original languages. I enjoy travelling, woodworking, deep sea fishing, and reading as hobbies.

Teaching Philosophy

My philosophy when teaching is that all children are unique and must have a stimulating educational environment where they can develop their abilities beyond what they think they are capable of. It is my desire to create this type of atmosphere. I will provide a safe environment where students are invited to share their ideas, and take risks, helping them learn through an interactive teaching style that demands their participation and challenges their abilities. I will aim to assist each child in an environment conducive to learning. I also think it is necessary for students to take individual responsibility for their education by coming prepared to participate in class.

Statement of Faith

I associate with the CS Lewis foundation in their statement of faith, confessing the Apostle’s Creed, and the Nicene Creed. I accept the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the written Word of God. I believe in the divine inspiration, entire trustworthiness, and final authority of the Bible in all matters of faith and practice.

I believe in: The Triune God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The incarnate Son: Jesus Christ, fully God, fully man. The goodness and beauty of the world, created and sustained by the Word of God’s power. Salvation by grace received through faith in Jesus Christ, who alone, through His life, death and bodily resurrection, redeems us from sin and reconciles us unto God. The essential unity of all believers, who together form one Church, diverse in form and expression, of which Christ is the Head. The continuing ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who empowers the worship, service and witness of God’s’ people in all their activities. The ultimate deliverance of the children of God and of all nature from the destructive consequences of the Fall. I further confess the historic statements of the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds. I regularly attend “Lewende woord” church in Brummeria, Pretoria which is an evangelical church.
