Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is that if you love your students and you love your discipline, they will love what you love. I view myself as a fellow learner with a little more experience. I use the Socratic method and seminar discussions of classic texts for teaching and learning. I believe that careful study, a sense of wonder, and the goal of knowing God are how teacher and students grow together as a body of learners. I carefully observe each student to ensure the class is tailored to individual learning styles. I have experience with a great diversity of learners over the years. I have taught 7th graders, and I have taught 80-year-old students. Flexibility is one of my greatest assets.
Statement of Faith
I hold to the Historic Christian Faith as summed up in the Westminster Confession of Faith and Shorter and Larger Catechisms. I have been a member at Westminster Fellowship, a Reformed church in Phoenix, Arizona, since 1994.
