
Jacob Douvier
about the teacher
Originally hailing from Western Washington, my family moved to rural North Central Missouri when I was 9, where we raised a plethora of small animals before briefly running a cattle operation. After being home schooled K-12, I attended Hillsdale College in Michigian, where I fell in love with Western culture and the Great Books. As a teacher, I am deeply indebted to so many wise and virtuous professors whose example I seek to emulate in my own classroom. On Summer breaks, I staffed for a Christian leadership camp for Christian youth, spending many hours talking worldviews, apologetics, books, and life with students.
In 2008, I took a position at a classical Christian school in St. Louis, MO, where I still teach to this day. In addition to teaching literature and history (and the occasional Latin, Composition, and Rhetoric classes as needed), I also serve as Director of Faculty Training.
In 2018, I completed the Circe Institute's Teacher Apprenticeship Program and am a Circe-certified Master Teacher. I have also supported other Circe programs, such as Lost Tools of Teaching workshops, and Atrium programs on David Hicks' Norms and Nobility.
