About the course

Students will learn the tools of Invention, Arrangement, and Elocution as they are introduced to Lost Tools of Writing Level 1. They will practice generating ideas using the five common topics. Students will evaluate characters’ decisions from American Literature. They will also learn to form and articulate logical arguments, organize ideas, and how to effectively use schemes and tropes. In addition, students will develop the habit of organizing their work and keeping a commonplace book.

  • Commonplace book (Small journal-type notebook dedicated to commonplace quotes.)
