LTW 3 and The Epics

LTW III and the EpicsDuring this course, your student will solidify the foundations laid in LTW I and II, develop advanced writing skills, master additional forms of persuasive address, and begin to practice tools for the arts of verse and storytelling. The skills gained through LTW III extend beyond academics to life in the world and the more profound questions of the heart and mind. The heart of The Lost Tools of Writing Level III is the deliberative address, which aims to determine whether an action should be taken. The bigger purpose is to grow in wisdom and prudence by practicing making difficult decisions, from which students can learn principles and habits of decision making for their own lives and communities. When you write your deliberative address, you practice thinking imaginatively and strategically.
Course Prerequisites:Students should have successfully completed at least one year of LTW Level II and be at least 16 years of age.
Course Objectives:Learn to refine the thinking and writing skills introduced in LTW II Utilize the new Invention Topics of Honor and Utility Recognize and use new schemes and tropes Write nine Deliberative Addresses Grow in their ability to think and write well Learn how to read great books
