About the course

This course will be an overview of Economic principles, both on a macro- and a micro-level. Students will also learn the basics of entrepreneurship.

This course will also introduce students to important financial life-principles, give them practical tools by which they can begin to immediately implement these principles, and help them establish excellent habits that will help them live by these principles their whole lives. We will use Dave Ramsey’s high school text/workbook Foundations in Personal Finance, the booklet Free Enterprise Economics in America, and Scripture.

Course Objectives:

  1. Understand the purpose and right uses of economics
  2. Differentiate between wise and foolish stewardship
  3. Apply the principles of microeconomics to everyday choices
  4. Understand and implement principles of debt-free living
  5. Consider one's calling and how wise financial choices aid in pursuit of this calling
  6. Make a plan and take the initial steps to start a business
  7. Use financial tools (budgeting, saving, investing) to build wealth
  8. Understand the importance of giving in a variety of ways
